Beginner / Elementary
Can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type. Can introduce him/herself and others and can ask and answer questions about personal details such as where he/she lives, people he/she knows and things he/she has. Can interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.

Can understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment). Can communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters. Can describe in simple terms aspects of his/her background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.

Can describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes & ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.

Upper Intermediate
Can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialisation. Can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party. Can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.

Lesson length:
Each lesson is 45 minutes.
There are always 2 lessons per week, without a break.
Semester length:
This depends on various factors, such as Christmas, Carnival, Easter and so on. The average semester varies between 16 and 24 weeks. Normally, students take 2 semesters to do a Cambridge exam preparation course, and this would cost approximately CHF 1750 for a 35 week course.

Not included in fees:
Books: Students must spend between CHF 50.- and 75.- on books. For some courses such as CAE and Proficiency, maybe more. All students need to buy the recommended coursebook and workbook.
Cambridge Exam Fees are also not included in the course price.
Included in the fees:
Library: We have a small but very useful library with books at ALL LEVELS for students to borrow. We also have some magazines and many videos and CDs. This library is FREE for all our students.
Refreshments: We offer FREE coffee and tea for all our students and teachers.
Course cancellation: Within 14 days before course start a voucher (one year valid) will be given. Within 7 days, the voucher will cover only 50 percent of the course fees.
Missed lessons: Only in case a medical certificate can be showed, a voucher will be given for missed lessons.
Selfstudy is required between 2 and 6 hours weekly, depending on the level of the course, generally rising with higher levels and exam classes.
